DEGENERATE FISH HIPPIES

OCTOBER 2024

Welcome to our October Magazine

The Fall season brings a close to the summer season, but Fall brings its own adventures and excitement. Hunting season is arriving and you know what that means, time to start scoping out your ground blinds and hunting spots. It is also time to get your campfire drinks ready, splash some extra whiskey in there, and enjoy the cooler weather.

Do not worry, the summer fishing season might be over, but that does not mean that there is nothing for us to do. We have hunting seasons opening up such as Grouse, Pheasant, and bow-season for Whitetail. There are still fish to catch like the Chinook season, Brook Trout, Sea Trout, and of course, any Bass you may find. Our goal, is to bring you the best content for hunting and fishing in the Fall and Winter months.

In this magazine issue, we bring you some fun episodes about fishing in some of the prettiest views in Yellowstone, Cutthroat Trout, and our featured episode of Coltin bringing his friend from Indiana out to experience The Park.

We also are bringing you some articles covering what flies to use, a gear review on TFO Fly Rods, a girl’s first-hand experience fishing with degenerates, and hunting Whitetail from ground blinds.

The seasons might be changing, but that does not mean that you have to sit inside, remember what Coltin says “You can’t catch them from the couch” so get out there and enjoy the Fall season.

FEATURED EPISODE

THE MIDWEST COMES TO TROUT COUNTRY

Colt's best buddy comes out to visit Yellowstone for a week. This is the first video of a mini-doc series of what Carter thinks about the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem Here the boys tackle the alpine lake and get carter on some beautiful Cutthroat trout and Artic grayling! The hopper bite was fun to fish and even pulled out the indicator and got the nymphs down deep.

Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout at Sunset

In this short adventure, Colt had gotten out of work early and decided to take the fly rod and his spinning rod for an evening fishing adventure. All I got to say is a purple balanced leech is a killer fly to have in still water fishing.

This is a great reminder to keep on casting. You never know what you could get with that next cast!

Waterfalls, Rivers, and Trout

Connor and Colt head out to one of their favorite rivers in The Park, as they are wadding through the clear cold water. The scenery of this place is truly breathtaking.

A huge thanks to PGH Fly Company!

Both Connor and Coltin were using the flies he had gifted us to try in the park. They weren't picking any fish up before using them. After they both tied on the Yinzer stone, it was lights out! The fly you see at the end is the Pearl merger.

(Hint hint and cough cough)

Go do yourself a favor and buy some!

If You Give a Girl a Fishing Rod

What happens when you introduce someone to fishing who has never been? Well, they fall in love with fishing of course! Read Sarah's first-hand account of learning to fish and her personal experience meeting degenerates.

What Flies, and When?

The question every fly fisherman asks, "What y'all catchin' them on?" is a classic question, and a genuinely good one. Here Connor breaks down the flies he recommends speciffically for the Yellowstone rivers, but these can be used in almost any river system.

TFO Gear Review

TFO is one of our standard rods we use on a regular bases, and Rod writes a great gear review of TFO and the cutsomer service experience he had while getting his TFO rod repaired.

Hunting Whitetail From the Ground

Whitetail Season is coming up, and Coltin gives you the best advice on how to approach your season from a ground blind or in a spot-and-stock situation. Read more on Hunting Whitetail From the Ground here.
